Community Rules

1. Respect

Although we are lax, calling a fellow member of the server derogatory terms and such is generally not allowed. A little joking is alright, but always know when to stop. When others are starting to feel uncomfortable, that's probably your cue to stop. When it comes to the N-Word, instances won't be punished, but you'll have to make sure to delete them after usage so that the nasty Discord Mods won't come looking for trouble. Members that are too toxic are an annoyance, after all, as most of you may agree.

2. Username & Nickname

Your Forum Username is to be your Character's Name and your Discord Nickname must also include your Character's Name in some manner, maybe initials. This is to make it easier to recognize you. And it is a given that you may only have 1 Character on 1 Account to avoid confusion. You are allowed to have up to 3 Characters / Alt Accounts legally, so that is to say, you can technically have more.

3. NSFW Content

Any sort of NSFW content isn't allowed on the forum in any way or manner. This refers to any sort of "lewd" and "inappropriate" content. However, you are allowed to have a degree of gore and the like unless it's too excessive. They may be kept within the Discord Server in the channel that is specifically for NSFW, however. After all, what community would say a hard no to some quality content.

4. Literacy

We offer roleplayers a literate roleplay environment, and that, in turn, means that you yourself must be at least semi-literate to participate in the roleplay of the forum. You are more than welcome to make yourself at home within our Discord Server and remain a member of the community, however. It is simply that the roleplay itself will not be all that enjoyable for you if you can barely understand the posts of others and you are actively avoided because you are something of an "annoyance". We are by no means strict in terms of literacy, though, and most people who have been roleplaying for a while will fit in just fine (or those who have been haunted with thousand word essays in high school until they were pushed to the brink of death).

5. Mini-Modding

Although not explicitly banned or a "bad" thing, it is best for non-Staff Members to not constantly berate other members. That is a job for a Staff Member, and if you have been a member of the Community for long enough and are helpful, you'd have already been offered said position. If you haven't been, then it is very likely that you have some unsavory qualities. You are more than welcome to ask what makes you under-qualified for said position if you are trying to become one, but are not being given the role.

Roleplay Rules

1. Permission

You cannot hop into the thread of others like it's no one's business as that is rude and most of all, immersion-breaking. We take these quite seriously and expect you to as well, and just hopping into the roleplays with OOC shenanigans will not be allowed. Some exceptions exist, such as Threads that have been specifically stated to be Open, in which case you may join at any point in time and roleplay with the individual in question. But just in case, it is best for you to PM the person in question on the forum or DM them on Discord, as that's only common sense.

2. No OOC Posts

Roleplaying is the main purpose of the forum, so therefore, including any sort of OOC shenanigans in a Roleplay thread will not be allowed. The only acceptable reason is asking for a scene to be voided or ended, at which point it should be deleted if any further posts are made prior to it being “graded”. After all, it would be confusing later down the line when others try to read your posts, and would break immersion of not only readers but the one you are roleplaying with. Again, our server’s Discord Server is the main form of communication, so you are suggested to join it and most conversations could simply happen on said platform. Then again, our Forum provides PMs as well.

3. OOC and IC Separation

There must be a clear separation between ‘in character’ (IC) and ‘out of character’ (OOC) behavior and knowledge. If your personal feelings begin to bleed into the roleplay, it is advised that you take a break from the roleplay. If you continue to act based on OOC feelings, beliefs, disagreements or other information in character, especially in a toxic manner, we will be forced to remove you from the community. Please remember that your character is not you and anything that happens to your character is not a direct attack on your real life self.

4. No Interruption

While not expressly forbidden, interrupting a character while they’re talking (outside battles, of course, during which you may interrupt as per the Combat Guideline explained below) is scrutinized and you’d best ask the permission of your partner before you write your post if you are looking to do that. But of course, you are allowed to interrupt someone once or twice without it. It’d just be a bit annoying is all, especially if they were going to proceed to speak ten or more written lines before you completely threw them off the loop, wasting their effort.

5. No Godmoding

Godmoding refers to several types of bad roleplay as an umbrella term. All godmoding attempts to shift the roleplay in the godmoding player’s favor. In essence, godmoding is any attempt at giving a roleplaying character an advantage that does not normally exist in-game. Everything stated below will simply not be allowed and you will first be warned and then if said action is repeated several times, you may be removed from the community outright.

Powerplaying is a term used to denote controlling another roleplayer’s character with your posts without their consent, which is to say, rude. So saying “Goku punched a hole through Frieza’s torso, pulling out his heart and killing him in the process,” would be Powerplaying in the truest sense, as it says that Goku has hit Frieza, without his consent; and then afterward, he’s declared that Frieza is now dead because Goku pulled out his heart. That simply will not do, as it is too toxic. What is allowed is “attempting” to do so. So using said example, it would be something like “Goku punched toward Frieza’s torso, aiming to punch through his chest to pull out his heart to kill him,” implies that Goku is punching toward Freiza, which can be stopped; and is aiming at the chest, rather than having hit him. And lastly, it says that Goku is trying to kill Frieza, not that he’s dead.

Godmodding is a term used in roleplaying which describes a character’s character being unnaturally gifted and too “perfect”. This is most prominent in Naruto Roleplay in which a character just has too many jutsu without really needing most of them just for flexes, or knowing Sage Mode, having Sharingan, Byakugan and Rinnegan etc. Overall, try not to make your character a Mary Sue. If your character’s greatest flaw is that “he cares too much about others”, then you’re quite close to it. We have a “Flaws” section in our template for a reason. When building your character, just think “Does he really need this?” before adding them in is all we ask.

Metagaming is a term used in roleplaying, which describes a player's use of real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game to determine their character's actions, when said character has no relevant knowledge or awareness under the circumstances. Lorebending and Lorebreaking are also included into this category, meaning that no non-established things may be established to gain an advantage in any sort of manner, such as suddenly being revealed to be the child of a Yonko or anything of the sort during a roleplay. Before or after a roleplay is finished, with express permission (or prior permission) it is somewhat acceptable, but not in any other way.

Retconning is a term used in roleplaying that gives an unfair advantage to a certain individual by making something not happen, or ignoring it, for the lack of a better word. This may either be done in defense of themselves or due to neglect. As you may assume, the latter is rather innocuous and you may simply tell them that something has indeed happened, and have them fix their response if you spot it. But if it is blatantly changing something that happened in one’s favor, then it may be punished if repeatedly done.

Post Classifications

While scrolling through the forum, you may find posts to be of a different color than others. Those are for a very good reason, and are used to differentiate the contents of the post and about what they are. So for example, as you may see, the Cyan color is for a Community Post, which means that they are there to tell you about the Community or the Forum itself rather than the System or the Lore of the forum.

Community Post - Cyan:

These posts have the very clear purpose of telling you about the Forum or the Community. This color encompasses very few things and generally speaking, unless you are a Staff Member, you are NOT allowed to use this color for your posts to avoid confusion. Any posts made with this color will be asked to have the color changed, and will be deleted if that is not done. Note that this refers to the Post Title.

System Post - Orange:

All System-Related Posts will be of the Orange Color, and much like the Cyan Color, you are not allowed to use it for regular posts. These are pretty much essential for roleplaying on the forum and you are suggested to read it, but you may somewhat just learn it as you go if you want to. We do have a Discord Server that is specifically used for explanations and discussions, after all.

Voided Thread - Violet:

Roleplay Threads that have been voided (not finished and just made void) will have to have their colors set to Violet so that the Staff Team may find them easier and delete them for you. Note that "Voided", in this context, means that a thread that you don't want to keep and has been annulled, with nothing that happened within considered canon, so no further reference to said thread will be allowed.

[Open / Closed] - Open / Closed Thread:

A Thread that is open for anyone to enter as they wish has a [Open] in front of it. This is useful if you don’t have any roleplay partners in mind and just want to roleplay, and probably a fair bit of surprise. After you have decided that you have enough participants, which may as well be 1, you must then change the [Open] to a [Closed] so that people will know what roleplay they may enter and what roleplay they may not. Note that all threads without an [Open] are considered to be [Closed]. Additionally, you may also specify a Faction you have in mind so that it is only open for those of said faction, like [Open - Marine].
